Juan Carlos Gutiérrez is the head of IDHEAS. Previously, he was the Head of the Unit for the Defense of Human Rights at the Mexican Interior Ministry (SEGOB) and the General Director of the Mexican Commission of Defense and Promotion of Human Rights A.C. (CMDPDH). He also worked as a Consultant for the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Mexico and as Regional Director of Mesoamerica at the Centre for Justice and International Law (CEJIL).
