“Rule of Law Rules” is our new podcast on Rule of Law in the age of digitalization from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. The host of the podcast is Dr Angela Daly, a socio-legal scholar of digital technology. In each episode she interviews one international expert about the opportunities and challenges for human rights in the digital age. We will gain insights into recent developments from different parts of the world.

This time we take a closer look on Middle East. Nadim Gemayel is our expert on Data Protection. He is a politician and lawyer based in Lebanon and Qatar. He was a member of the Lebanese Parliament between 2009 and 2020 and during this time he was the head of the Technology Committee of the Lebanese Parliament. In August 2020 he resigned from the parliament. Furthermore, Nadim Gemayel is the president of the Bachir Gemayel Foundation and founder of the NGO Achrafieh 2020.

We speak with him about the General Data Protection Regulation and its influence in Middle East.

Dr. Angela Daly interviewt internationale Expertinnen und Experten zu den Themen Datenschutz, Legal Tech und den Einsatz von Künstlicher Intelligenz. Der Podcast ist in Englisch, erscheint monatlich und nimmt jedes Mal eine andere Weltregion in den Blick.

Zusammen mit Nadim Gemayel werfen wir einen Blick in den Nahen Osten. Nadim Gemayel ist Politiker und Anwalt und pendelt zwischen dem Libanon und Katar hin- und her. Er war von 2009 bis 2020 Mitglied des libanesischen Parlaments. Während dieser Zeit war er Leiter des Ausschusses für Technologie des libanesischen Parlaments. Im August 2020 legte er sein Mandat nieder. Darüber hinaus ist er Präsident der Bachir Gemayel Foundation und Gründer der NGO Achrafieh 2020.

Wir sprechen mit ihm über die DSGVO und ihren Einfluss auf die Gesetzgebung im Nahen Osten.
