Olomouc Weapons Law Course – Navigating the Legal Parameters of Traditional and Emerging Technologies,

Applications are now open for the 2026 instalment of the Weapons Law Course organized by the Centre for International Humanitarian and Operational Law and conducted by the Course DirectorAir Commodore William Boothby (RAF Retired, PhD). The course will take place from 14 to 18 September 2026 in Olomouc, Czech Republic, and is specifically designed for academic scholars, military legal advisors, MoD and MFA officials, military commanders, weapon reviewers, and procurement specialists.

This intensive course will examine the complex legal frameworks governing the legality of weapons, the mitigation of unnecessary suffering, and the mechanisms of legal review. It employs a highly interactive methodology, combining expert lectures, seminar discussions with focus on work in groups, and plenary sessions where group solutions are debated and evaluated to solidify the practical application of the law. The curriculum is meticulously structured to guide attendees from foundational concepts to advanced legal application, ultimately producing professionals fully qualified to assess both traditional armaments and cutting-edge military technologies.
