Invitation to the Jour Fixe of the AjV (Arbeitskreis junger Völkerrechtswissenschaftler*innen/ Working Group of Young Scholars of International Law)
On 16 April 2026 at 7.00 pm, Philipp Rothkirch will present on the topic: Protecting Democracy Through International Law: Guatemala’s Request for an IACtHR Advisory Opinion on Democracy and Political Rights. Philipp Rothkirch is a research associate and doctoral candidate at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg. His work focuses on the restoration of independent State institutions following democratic backsliding, particularly from the perspectives of international law and human rights law.
The Jour Fixe is a regular (approximately monthly) event series organised by the AjV. Its primary aim is to foster exchange among early-career scholars of international law on a range of changing topics within the field. Membership of the association is not required to participate.
