1st Issue of the 1stVolume of ArmJIL

The Editorial Board of the Armenian Journal of International Law (ArmJIL) is pleased toinvite submissions for the inaugural 1st Issue of the 1stVolume of ArmJIL, to be published inJuly 2026.ArmJIL, a periodic publication on international law, has been created with a view tostrengthening Armenia’s scholarly presence in the global academia. Anchored withinYerevan State University and the Armenian Institution for International Legal Studies,ArmJIL aims to provide an institutionalised platform for rigorous research, critical debate,and doctrinal innovation in international law. ArmJIL is open to publishing articles ongeneral international law and comparative law, including international humanitarian law,international dispute resolution (including arbitration), current issues related to theinternational protection of human rights, and state responsibility, as well as original issuesrelating to any aspect of international law and interdisciplinary approaches to internationallaw (political science, international relations, economic analysis of international law).ArmJIL intends to serve as a bridge between the Armenian legal scholarship and leadinginternational debates, enabling local scholars and practitioners to engage with andcontribute to cutting-edge global discourse. The publication will enhance academicstandards, support the training of emerging researchers, and reinforce the role of YerevanState University as a regional hub for excellence in international legal research and thoughtleadership.The creation of ArmJIL has also been informed by the need for a platform reflecting theperspectives of smaller states, like Armenia, to international law, which risk beingoverlooked and suppressed by mainstream Western, Soviet/Russian and Asian approachesto international law. As such, ArmJIL intends to serve as a balanced, methodologicallysound and high-quality periodical publication in the region, enabling articulation of theregion’s perspectives as distinct from the mainstream or ideologically influencednarratives.In pursuit of these objectives, ArmJIL invites submissions for its first, inaugural issue.

ArmJIL accepts the following types of submissions that engage with current themes ininternational law:

  • Articles (or Lead Articles) between 8,000 and 12,000 words (including footnotes),
  • Scholarly Essays between 4,000 and 6,000 words (including footnotes),
  • Book Reviews and Review Essays between 1500 – 3000 words, respectively (includingfootnotes),
  • International Decisions and Decision Essays, not exceeding 4,000 words (includingfootnotes).

Submissions will be received through the online submission platform by 23:59 (GMT+4), 31May 2026. The online submission platform will be active only during the submission period.
