GoJIL – Goettingen Journal of International Law (Open Call)

The GoJIL Editorial Board invites submissions of scholarly articles, commentaries, and reports in the field of international law for publication in Vol. 16 (2026)

About Us

The Goettingen Journal of International Law (GoJIL) is an e-journal founded in 2007 at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen in cooperation with its Institute for International and European Law. The journal is published biannually and according to open access principles.

The GoJIL aims to foster debate among scholars of international law and related disciplines. Contributions are welcomed from professors, early-career researchers, doctoral candidates, and advanced students.

Open Call for Submissions

We encourage submissions across a broad array of topics within international law, including but not limited to international criminal, humanitarian and economic law, while also accepting contributions from related disciplines such as international relations, history or economics.

As we welcome submissions on a rolling basis there is no fixed deadline. Please refer to our website for future thematic Calls for Papers.

Submissions Guidelines 

Authors may submit:

  • General Articles of approx. 15,000 words

  • Articles on Current Developments of approx. 6,000 to 15,000 words

  • Reports / Commentaries (e.g., on recent judgments, case law developments, or novel jurisprudential issues)

Submissions must be original, not previously published, and not under review elsewhere. All submissions undergo double-blind peer review to ensure scholarly quality and impartiality. There are no article processing or submission charges.
