One Postdoctoral Position (50%)

The Chairs of Prof. Dr. Regina Kiener, Prof. Dr. Matthias Mahlmann and Prof. Dr. Daniel Moeckli at the Faculty of Law of the University of Zurich offer one postdoctoral position (4 years; 0.5 FTE).

Job description

The new University Research Priority Program (URPP) Equality of Opportunity aims to research the economic and social changes that lead to inequality. As part of this URPP, the subproject directed by our three Chairs will study the normative foundations which provide the basis of, and set the goals for, public policies that seek to increase equality. The objective of the subproject is to restate the normative principles and fundamental legal concepts underlying current equality guarantees as foundational elements of a just society.

We are looking for an outstanding postdoctoral researcher who is interested to analyse issues of equality and non-discrimination, be it within a particular area (such as access to education, healthcare, housing, justice, institutions or political participation) or be it from a more general legal theoretical perspective. You will perform research resulting in a Habilitation treatise or an equivalent scholarly work, which may be written in German, French or English.

In particular, the successful candidate is expected to:

  • perform research leading to a Habilitation to be submitted at our Faculty of Law or an equivalent scholarly work
  • participate in interdisciplinary research including economics, social sciences, history, philosophy and law
  • assist in implementing our URPP subproject by, for example, assisting in the organisation of workshops, contributing to the dissemination of research results etc.
