Accountability for the Crime of Aggression: Registration is now open for twin conferences organised by the Section of International Law and International Relations of the Faculty of Law of the University of Vienna and the Department of International Law of the Faculty of Law, Charles University (Prague) focusing on current legal developments in the enforcement of the crime of aggression.
The Vienna ‘Conference on Amendments: Towards one Comprehensive Jurisdictional Regime for all Crimes Within the Jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court’, 6-7 October 2023, will focus on amendments to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. These concern, most prominently, the conditions for the exercise of jurisdiction over the crime of aggression, but also proposals to broaden the subject-matter jurisdiction of the Court and to close gaps in the Statute’s enforcement structure. To join, please register via int-law@univie.ac.at until 24 September 2023.
The Prague Conference ‘Towards Accountability for the Crime of Aggression Committed Against Ukraine’, 10-11 November 2023, will discuss the possible categories of a special tribunal for the prosecution of the crime of aggression against Ukraine and their implications, particularly on the (non)applicability of immunities from foreign criminal jurisdiction and other important aspects. To join, please register via the conference website until 31 October 2023.
