Access to Vaccines and Medical Care During Pandemics: Covid19 as Disruption, Technische Universität Dresden and Stellenbosch University, 11.07.2022, 10:30-17:00
The Institute of International Law, Intellectual Property and Technology Law at Technische Universität Dresden, the Center for International Studies Dresden and Stellenbosch University warmly invite you to the hybrid conference Access to Vaccines and Medical Care During Pandemics: Covid19 as Disruption on 11th July 2022.
Covid19 has shown that pandemics can threaten lives globally, cripple economies, put millions out of work and lead to a radical break with everyday habits – on a scale previously thought impossible. Access to vaccines and medicines is critical in halting the disruption caused by Covid19 and in helping the world to emerge from this crisis as quickly, fairly and safely as possible. Law plays a decisive role as it aims to reconcile private and public interests and to establish regulatory frameworks that ensure fair access to scarce resources, both globally between states and domestically between citizens.
Reflecting on the Covid19 pandemic and the disruptions that accompanied it, we will examine, from the perspective of both the Global North and the Global South, whether existing legal concepts and frameworks, including their implicit ethical values, have proven successful in combating the pandemic. We will focus on intellectual property law, international law and constitutional law. You can find more information at https://tud.link/edju .
We ask you to register via e-mail (firstname.lastname@example.org) by 1 July. Please indicate whether you wish to participate in person or online. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact Amelie Freund (email@example.com).
We look forward to seeing you!
