International Law in Crisis – On the Challenges Caused by Terrorism and Populism, Panel Discussion, HU Berlin, 24 June 2017, 18.00h
Panelists: Prof. Jeffrey Dunoff, Prof. Tiyanjana Maluwa, Prof. Andreas Zimmermann
Chair: Prof. Heike Krieger
International law is currently put into question by populist movements and by terrorist violence. Are these short-term phenomena regarding a long-term development towards an ever intense juridification of international relations? Or are these signs of a fundamental change in global structures? Can international law confront the terrorist threat in a meaningful way and help to confine it? Is the rise of populism counterproductive in the global war against terror? Is international law facing a radical transformation?
The discussion will take place on Saturday, 24 June 2017, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the lecture hall 2093, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Unter den Linden 6 (west wing, second floor).
Organizer: Berlin Potsdam Research Group / KFG – The International Rule of Law – Rise or Decline?
