70 years after the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the fate of international human rights seems to be uncertain. Regional courts like the European Court of Human Rights and universal UN Human Rights bodies are increasingly criticized by states and members of civil society. Is this a short-term phenomenon concerning a long-term development towards an ever growing juridification of human rights protection? Or is this a sign of a fundamental change in global structures? Can (and should) international law still play a significant role in furthering the values of human rights?
The discussion will take place on Saturday, 9 June 2018, from 7.30 pm to 9 pm, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Unter den Linden 6, room 2014 A (east wing, 1st floor).
