This lecture will demonstrate that incorporating a human rights analysis into the formulation and content of the international financial regulatory standards can improve financial regulation and can produce more robust and inclusive financial systems. It will also argue that such a human rights analysis raises challenging questions for both human rights law and for financial regulation.
Prof. Dr. Daniel Bradlow is the SARCHI Professor of International Development Law and African Economic Relations, Centre for Human Rights, University of Pretoria and Professor Emeritus, American University Washington College of Law. He is a former head of the International Economic Relations and Policy Department, South African Reserve Bank and Chair, Independent Review Mechanism, African Development Bank.
